Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound that your chest makes when you can not breathe easily because of narrowed or obstructed airway passages. It is a symptom which happens to people at all ages, especially young children. Wheezing makes you difficult to absorb oxygen into your body so you have a feeling of discomfort and dizziness.

It is important to take a look at some causes of this symptom. Asthma is one of the most popular diseases leading to wheezing. Besides, it associates with other illnesses such as allergies, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or vocal cord dysfunction. In addition, it occurs in long-term heavy smokers whose bronchi are weakened and stimulated to release too much mucus.

There are five following home remedies for wheezing with simple ingredients available in your kitchen to help you prevent loss of life and worsening of symptoms.

  1. Ginger

Ginger is a very normal ingredient in your kitchen and extremely safe for almost people. This spice is well-known for treating asthma, reducing inflammation of respiratory airways and preventing its contraction. You can use ginger for wheezing treatment in some ways below.

Mix honey, pomegranate juice and ginger juice in the same proportions. Consume a tablespoon of this mixture twice to three times each day. In another way, mix a teaspoon of ginger slices with half a cup of water and drink it before bedtime. Alternatively, add a tablespoon of ginger slices to a cup of boiled water and steep for about five minutes. Add a little honey and drink it when it is still warm. Finally, boil the mixture of a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds, honey, and ginger juice and drink it twice a day in the morning and in the evening. In addition, ginger might treat swollen glands.

  1. Figs

Figs are considered as one of the effective home remedies for wheezing due to its nutrients. It can relieve breathing difficulties, release sputum and improve respiratory health. Wash three or four figs carefully and then soak them in a glass of water overnight. Eat these soaked figs and drink the water in which you soaked the figs in the morning when your stomach is empty. Do this for a few months to cure your symptoms.

  1. Mustard oil

Mustard oil is extracted from mustard seeds used for cooking. It has a lot of good effects on human health including wheezing relief. Mustard oil contains selenium and magnesium helping prevent the symptoms of asthma. Whenever wheezing, you can use mustard oil to clear respiratory airways and get rid of discomfort caused by the breath obstruction.

Heat a little mustard oil with a little camphor and then keep warm. Rub it on your back and chest and massage gently. You can do this several times daily for wheezing treatment.

  1. Eucalyptus oil

One of the best remedies for wheezing is pure eucalyptus oil, which cures asthma effectively. The reason is that it contains decongestant properties which can break down mucus. You just put a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a paper towel and lay it next to your head when sleeping to breathe more easily. Another way is that you can boil the water with several drops of eucalyptus oil and breathe in. Do this every day if you want to get the best results.

  1. Honey

Honey is very effective to relieve the symptoms of wheezing. It helps dilute viscous substances in the bronchi and expel it out easily. Simply, you just inhale the smell of honey to get rid of the wheezing symptoms. Alternatively, you can put a teaspoon of honey into a glass of boiled water and drink it three times a day. Before going to sleep, you should use the mixture of a little cinnamon powder and a teaspoon of honey to remove sputum in the throat. This way also help you sleep better at night.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is an excellent remedy for obstructive conditions and relieves the symptoms of asthma as well as wheezing. Boil one-fourth cup of milk with two or three crushed cloves of garlic. After that, let it cool and drink it every day for easy breathing. Otherwise, you use one crushed clove of garlic with a teaspoon of honey twice a day.
